On 15 and 16 October we went to the Kiss the Future AI Summit in Sarajevo as a club. This was the summit's third year. The event is organised by Blum Institut with support from Bloomteq, and over two days more than 70 speakers took part on six stages at the National Theatre, the Bosnian Cultural Center and the Youth Theatre.

Day one: the main stage

The main stage was at the National Theatre. On the first day the talks there were about how AI relates to money, security and power. We listened to speakers from large companies, startups and research institutes.

Day two: Uraz Yekeler's session

On 16 October we listened to Uraz Yekeler from Teknopark İstanbul on the Research Stage at the Bosnian Cultural Center. Uraz Yekeler runs Cube Incubation at Teknopark İstanbul and has been building acceleration programmes for startups for years. His session was called "Trust Is the Real Infrastructure: Why people, not models, decide who wins".

The question of the talk was simple: if everyone has access to the same AI models, who makes the difference? As the title says, the answer is people and the trust between them. As students starting an engineering club, that felt very familiar.

After the session we had the chance to meet him.

What we took away as a club

Events like this matter to us for two reasons. We see how companies actually use AI, and we introduce our club to new people. We plan to carry the ideas we heard at the summit into our projects and events in the coming term.

Thank you to the Kiss the Future team for hosting us and to all the speakers who gave their time.
